According to our itinerary, this was a Lahu village called Rummit, and according to my internet research, Rummit is an elephant camp village where tourists can sign up for elephant treks. Initially, I thought the only access to the village was by boat, but later, as I wandered the village, I saw a modern highway. Dang, made the village less romantic ;o) I still would have chosen the boat trip which took maybe an hour.
