A Journey Through Colours
Phil, I loved the journey of colours that you took us through from Curacao to the Canal: From the warm glow on your ship which you made your home for 4 weeks, to the burst of colour in the bright, vibrant town of Willemstead, then to the cool blues and aquamarines of the underwater world, back to land in the lush green forests of Costa Rica, then the industrial greys and browns of the manmade wonder of the Panama Canal and finally to your closing shot of a warm glow again, this time of a Pacific sunset. What a wonderfully rich and varied experience you must have had, and you've let us share in your experience simply through your vivid palette of colours. It's almost like I've been there myself. Thank you Phil!

Guns of Curacao
Kind of scary unless you know for sure the thing doesn't work! The pretty little colorful houses in the distance really seem threatened by that impending cannon! Great shot!

Panama City
I had no idea that Panama City was so huge and modern! It is hard to understand that my country bombed and invaded such a city as we have also recently done with Baghdad. I hope this nonsense will stop! Great photos of the canal! I would like to visit Panama some day.

Visual Feast III
"Gates of Pedro..." I love how you add people as the spice which makes your images step above recording to essence. "Descending Ship," What a powerful image. The people give it scale. They are dwarfed by the huge ship, with faded interesting colors, and by the huge gates. But, for me, they serve as a reminder that both the ship, and the locks where created by people and are controled by people. How right that people are at the center of the image.

Visual Feast II
"Cemetery Fence" I really love this one and I don't know why. I can see the patterning and the way the image is split so nicely into thirds. But why does that touch my emotions as this image does? "Evening,..," The colors are luscious in this, like rich sherbert, but it is the bird, the little punctuation mark that makes it memorable to me. "Diving,..." Again, the master of the moment has caught the action which makes an interesting image come alive. How polite of the woman to wear a red two piece. "Containerama,..." For me this image really captures the essence of the Panama Canal. This vibrant image shows the commercial aspect of the canal. But it just doesn't report, it captures the hectic, vibrancy with color and pizazz.

Visual Feast
What a feast of images, lucky there are no calories in a visual feast or I would be having to go to Weight Watchers meeting twice a week. Okay, on to specifics: "In the Wake..." I'm not used to abstracts from you but this one touches my heart for its design, color, and the power of the water frozen for a moment. "Banking..." Another wonderful example of Phil standing and waiting for the person to add the essential component to the image. How nice that he is wearing a yellow shirt.
