Windmills in Floodlight
Kinderdijk is a small village near Rotterdam, The Netherlands with 19 windmills. Most of them were built in the 18th century, one was built in approximately 1620, replacing an earlier windmill which had been there since the 1400s. In the old times, they were used to pump water from the land, but this function was taken over by a modern pumping station. Each year, the windmills are illuminated in the second week of September. The area is listed on the Unesco World Heritage List.
