Oktober I went on a trip, not Knowing where I would go until a day before... At first I was afraid the weather would be not all that but it turned out to be the best time to be there, also not many tourists! I love Greece and bin around but not Rhodes. The ancient greecs and there gods always facinated me along with their beautifull architecture. I Started off my pics not on hystoric sites but with the butterfly valley, as it is not that known and not to be missed! (well in oktober you can)The Island is fairly dry and I was amazed to find a lush green park in the middle! But I must tell you after a good look I saw it was a man made river with a loud pump making it run, but the butterflies don't mind and that's what counts.I rented myself a bike to move around as in a car you tend to be shown where to park near a site ten kilomiters away, also you can get to places no car can. Inside the city it is a bit scary, but on the road GREAT! I wanted to see the ancient city of Lindos fisrst and so I did. A couple of stops just to look how wonderfull the vieuws where and then comming closer you see it rising..Lindos First walking through the new town of Lindos and then again long stairs up...I must say one thing though... being an animal lover. Please if you can walk do not hire the donkeys... It always makes me sad seeing these sweet animals carrying way to heavy people up and down the whole day being beaten in the proces... Ofcourse in new Lindos very nice restaurants and shops. the walk up takes you into the past and touching the stones of the ruines... well you know once you have experienced it what I mean! After the walk the Acropolis looks out to the sea and makes it complete. NOT TO BE MISSED! The old harbour is also great to vistit the fort is in exelent state and tells the history of the many enemies that the fort had had to stand guard for! Ok my journey takes me again to a breathtaking spot... Hard to find as the signs are not that clear, nor the friendly greecs showing the way... The Monestary, a road never seen so steep and curved and small (busses and cars are comming down too...) Well after a good manouver or two I got to see that the busses and cars not even half way had to park, not to much time to smile as the road got even worse... then 1000 steps up after the drive and then... YES a very local monistary and a vieuw over Rhodes noone should miss! Even the luck of seeing this little guy I want to end my article with Kamiros, the second ruine site next to Lindos and on a beatifull location. 600 BC can you imagine...It left me thinking what will be found 1402 years from now from our citys...
