An opportunity to travel to Ecuador and work alongside one of the great insect photographers was too good to pass up. I was to fly to Quito, hire a driver, drive over a 14,200 foot mountain pass, and continue down into the Oriente.
My residence for the next three weeks was Cabanas Alinahui, located on the Napo River at an elevation of 1300 feet. The lodge is operated by a non-profit foundation called Health and Habitat. Their goal is to preserve virgin rainforest and to rehabilitate land that has been logged.
