It's part ultra-marathon, part Jerry Lewis telethon and part Woodstock: three days of peace, love and blisters. A mix of altruism and masochism that stirs the soul and brings a smile to Dr. Scholl.

Well, here it is. A photo journal of my adventures on the Avon Breast Cancer 3 Day walk. It was an amazing experience from start to finish. Oh there are a few kinks that need to be worked out, but all in all it was probably the most rewarding experience of my life. If they move it to an earlier part of the year I know I'd love to do it again. I'm left with so many wonderful memories. If I never see another porta potty again or drink another sip of Gatorade, it would be JUST fine! I'll never forget the chanting "drink drink pee pee you don't want an IV" and believe me they meant it! Seeing all the friends and family along the way with signs and cheers, it felt so good!

Every step of the way there was someone to help you along. Strangers became friends with an offer of water or a snack. We walked together, ate together, slept together, took care of our blisters together. We walked 2800 strong and raised $1.8 million dollars for breast cancer research and awareness,$500,000 of which will stay right here in Miami, going to the UM/JM Sylvester Cancer Clinic. I have never felt better about anything I've done before. We had the most amazing volunteer crew to help us along too. From the medical people to the traffic controller, from the pit stop crew to the gear haulers, every single one of them always met us with a smile and a word of encouragement. We could not have made it through the 3 days with out them.

One of the things they talk about at opening ceremonies and on all the PR material is the slogan, Humankind - be both. I have to say that everyone involved with this walk from start to finish WAS both. It was such a treat to be with people who went out of their way to be nice and caring and sharing for a change.

I need to thank so many people without whom I never would have been able to make it through the 60 miles and 3 days. First of all I want to thank everyone who donated to help me reach my required $1,900.00. You should know that I not only reached that, but exceeded it. You are AMAZING!! Thank you soooooo much! I also want to thank Miles for being so patient about my long training walks on the weekends, especially this past month when I was out both days. I must thank Cat for all her dedicated training walks with us...even though she wasn't even doing the walk. Seeing her smiling face at closing ceremonies was great! Thanks for everything and for the lovely roses. Last, I want to thank all the women and men who trained with me on Saturday mornings at Matheson Hammock. We started out strangers and ended up what I hope will be life-long friends. I know I could not have made it without you?I especially want to thank Rina for sharing my tent, Rina, Cari & Diana for sharing all 60 miles and Maggie for keeping us laughing all the way!
