tsunami emergency shelter
i think it is time for those living at the seaside to prepare for their families tsunami emergency escape shelters.prepare for a tsunami attack. i have a few designs for these custom built shelter for residents.either a steel cylinder fully watertight to be safe inside while being carried away by the wave can also prevent injury by floating debri. these big size tanks can be installed in your home garden. also for those with extra cash you can built an underground concrete shelter in your garden.being underground is safe as the wave forces only hit horizontally.anything below ground is spared. for community size underground bunkers can be funded by the state govrnment and be placed strtegically at public beaches.alternatively can construct elevted concrete 10m high towers at beaches to house say 100people so that those at the beaches can flee. for more info see my website:www.geocities.com/tsunamishelter. hopefully there would not be that many victims in the future.

Forest, thanks for such a wonderful webpage. I too am from Penang. I now live in Beachburg, Ont., Canada. Some 30yrs ago I worked in Penang. And I belive it is not the time to review back on what had happened, but we should move on to help those who needed our attentions, be it from monetory, or man power perspective. I lived in Malaysia for six months in 2003 on the mainland near Butterworth, I helped teach English in a school and at the weekends one of my favourite things was to come and relax at Batu Ferringhi with my friend Megan. Kindly do not use this as a platform to make converts. The last thing victims need to hear right now is comments of this nature. 'Educated' people know there's a scientific explanation for this. If nations expend their resources into the technology already availble to prevent this rather than in warfare, the consequences of Dec 26 would not have been so catastrophic in terms of loss of human lives! Victims of this natural disaster will find more comfort in deeds rather than words. At best, we can only reflect on events of the past week and pray for their souls in our respective ways.

His Promises, Our Hope
If you, like many others, have been asking the question "Why suffering of such unprecedented scale happens?", maybe then one needs to contemplate the fact that we all live in a fallen world. A world made imperfect by pain & suffering when humanity first rebelled against God. This is not to say that any natural disaster is automatically God's judgement against our sins; but it is definitely a way God uses to draw us closer to Christ. However, we should also not live our lives fearing tragedies like these, for Christ too, suffered on the cross, and died to free His believers from being held in slavery by their fear of death. Perhaps, it is time we repent, acknowledge Christ, and hold fast to the hopes He has promised all of us.

God is in Control
I just came back from outstation work at Penang two weeks ago. To be honest I really like Penang...most probably because of its beautiful beach...i.e Batu Feringgi ..where ever we go we can find sea justlike gurney drive and padang kota.

Watching the tragedy on tv make my heart sank...its really a great reminder from God. The end of the day is near. So let us pray for the victim's family and whole nations as well for salvation and God grace.

Thoughts from a holiday visitor.
When we heard of the Tsunami Disaster our hearts sank, we did not think we could hear worse until the media then told us of it hitting Penang. We are frequent holiday visitors to the island and have been for two decades so we knew that the areas where we normally stay would be hit. We have a number of friends in the Batu Ferringhi area including many of the staff at the Bay View Beach Resort BF, where we normally stay. Our love and thoughts are with all of you at this terrible time and may your Gods be shielding you.

it's really a big disaster in penang history.. sigh.. we should pray more for the victims too. i do not agree that the disaster is caused by GOD. i always bliv that GOD will try to help human beings instead of killing and causing troubles to humans. so, pls stop using GOD's name as trouble makers.. :(

a day to remember
I am a university student in USA. My friend called me from Penang at 1pm Sunday and that time we still didn:t know anything. When I woke up at 3pm my time, which was 4am Monday Malaysia time. My friend told me that Penang was strike by earthquake and I hardly believe it. I became to worry when the online news stated that Penang was the worst in Malaysia. I was so worried that my house would collapse and my family and relatives would injured but luckily all　of them are in 1 piece. Now the US news keeps on discussing whether the same thing will happen to HAWAII, ALASKA and the West Coast just like in the movie THE DAY AFTER TOMORROW.

Your Picture resolutions are really good. Sadly, Penang being hit by this 9.0 Scale Tsunami. Many lives were lost and lots of damages were reported. Let us pray that this will not happend again.
