Something to think about when looking at the pictures of the cliffs: In the outcrops and cliffs in Fish Creek Park, you can see ash that was deposited over 7000 years ago from the Mt Mazama eruption (now Crater Lake in Oregon). Ash traveled from that eruption to Southern Alberta (1600 kilometers away!), and there is still a layer of 2 to 8 inches of ash that can be found. If you look closely, you may be able to notice that layer of black ash today it is used as an indicator of age. Maria ...
