Sightseeing in Mexico picture - Or, 'Green Gold'. In prehispanic times, a plant called agave was used to make rope and fabric, and could even make a fine paper for writing or drawing. Its many qualities gave rise to an economic boom in an industry that exploited many natives in Yucatan. Pacheco shows the Maya stooping under the weight of a bundle, and surrounded by the sharp green blades of the algave.
