Points of interest includes the famous PAOAY church, usual sand dunes up to 800 meters wide, and spectacular coastal scenery between Cape Bojeador and the Cagayan boundary. Ilocos Norte is the home province of former president Ferdinand Marcos. PAOAY is 20 km south of Laoag City, founded by Augustinian in 1593.
BATAC is an important tobacco town, was the boyhood of former president Marcos. Ilocos Norte is a major center of this church, with a significant number of adherents.
The city of LAOAG, the capital of Ilocos Norte. It is fondly called the"Sparkling Gem of Ilocandia" or "Sunshine City." The city is renowned for its belltowers, historical monuments, and centuries-old churches, the best-known being the St. Williams Cathedral. It is also the site of the massive 45-meter high Sinking Belltower one of the tallest in the country. Most travellers use plane to reach Laoag, an hour flight from Manila, it was an established settlement when Spanish Juan De Salcedo arrived in 1572.
