I was born and brought up in Lambourn, living in Mill Lane during my childhood. Most of my family still live in the village. After my marriage I moved to Queensland, Australia, where I still live with my husband and 2 sons.We were in the village last year and the photos bring back many memories. I remember playing in the river down opposite the Lamb with my older sister (and falling in), also sliding down the show covered hill opposite our house on a piece of tin. Australia is now home but it's great to see photos of your heritage. Great!

I was born in Lambourn but left in 1981 to go to university. I spent many summers playing in the river but never learnt to swim in it like my brother and cousins. We would go to 'wooden bridge' at Bockhampton Farm and I would be stuck on the bank. Wonderful photographs and my recent visits have shown it to be just as beautiful if smaller to view. Honey Hill where my nan lived was huge

Beautiful Lambourn Valley
Came across this site and I actually know two people who have left a comment. So Hi to Patrica whom I went to school with in Lambourn and to my new family friend William who is researching the same family as myself. The photos are wonderful. Two of the Houses at Bockhampton were family homes of my father and Grandfather. Sure makes me homesick looking at the pictures from Vancouver Island. Janet

I was sent the pics in an email and it brought back memories and made me homesick I was raised in Newbury and lived at the top of Elizabeth Ave. We would ride our bikes through the countryside. You don't appreciate as much until you are away from it. I have lived in Texas for the past 32 years. Hopefully I will get to visit once again before I get to old! Lambourn memories
I was born at the old Collage Farm at Sheepdrove. I later moved to Lambourn where i spend my childhood years growing up. It brought back wonderful memories to see the beautiful pictures of Lambourn. I now and have lived in the USA for 35 years and i come back for a visit to my family every 6 or 7 years and i always have to take a trip to Sheepdrove and Lambourn because thats where my heart truly is. My mother is still alive and lives in Newbury now. Thanks for the memories.

What beautiful photographs, my great great grandparents were from Newbury and Welford and came to South Australia in 1851. He was a bookseller from Northbrook St. and she was from Weston where her parents ran the Weston Mill. I loved seeing where they came from a far cry from the hot arid country they then called home.

Doug, I was stationed at Welford from 1965 to 1967 also. Beautiful area. I went back with my wife 5 years ago. It was great. I used to go to the Blue boar also. Rod was great. It is a different place now. It's called The Crab and is a seafood place. Wierd. Could not get on the base because there was a lot going on then. Enjoy your trip.

Great Shefford
I lived in Great Shefford from 1978 to 1981 I lived at Rivermead a place that was owned by the Bunce Family. I knew the Bunce Family well. We named our first daughter after Nancy Bunce who passed and is buried in the local church. These photos brought back such fond memories of our time in Great Shefford. We visited Lambourne on many occasions as we lived just down the road. We spent a lot of time at the Swan Inn the owner back then was a fellow by the name of Jaime. I was stationed at R.A.F. Welford and played football for the local team. Such wonderful photos. One day I will go back but in the meantime, thanks for helping me to remember.

What a lovely collection.Yr "Perfection" attracts me very much because it drags the memory of my childhood when I lived in a remote small town some where,flowers on the bank and end of rubble road in front of you while the bird nets hung on the tree.
