The 2 most famous glaciers in the Westland National Park (the Fox and the Franz Joseph) are among the major attractions in New Zealand. Nowhere else in the world, at this latitude, have glaciers advanced so close to the sea. The sound of buzzing helicopters and planes doing the runs over the glaciers were annoying when we were hiking but like many tourists, we did it.
