Isle Royale National Park is located in Lake Superior, closer to Canada than the U.S. The largest island, in the largest freshwater lake in the world, is hard to get to but well worth the effort. I spent three days backpacking in the park, May 25 thru May 28, 2002, and found the isolation of the island has many benefits.
