it's good that you posted these pix, thank you. I was surprised to learn that many of the tourist places were "back to normal", I do wonder (as the person below notes) how long it will take for the "Word" to reach the big majority of tourists, that it's Safe to go there>??

Thank you for the pictures. It was a major disaster and the more people know about it the better, for aid response now, and motivation to develop the early warning system needed to help prevent a recurrence. Don't worry, people's memories tend to be short and the tourists will be back soon enough.

Tim.. You mention in your narrative that many areas of the island show few signs of the tsunami & have been cleaned up already. It's unfortunate that you didn't balance the journal with pix of some of these areas on the island frequented by tourists & visitors that were little affected or have already been cleaned up & are back to normal already?. I am thinking of Batu Ferringhi & Gurney Drive & the waterfront in the city? Pix like these should scare tourists away in droves? Unfortunately, few people read the narratives here.
