Sprotbrough for those who don't know the village is to the west of Doncaster - in France it would be a town, as it has approximately 10,000 people living in it. I have always lived here, except when I briefly lived in Portsmouth and of course during my numerous brief visits to the Continent. The village dates from before Norman times and its name means the 'fortified place of Sprot'. Sprot, one presumes was an anglo-saxon gentleman. It is well worth a short visit and you may also be privileged enough to see me there.
