It does give the impression of "floating" or "hanging." When I last saw it many, many years ago they, unfortunately, had been working on it and there was bamboo scaffolding all over the place! It is beautiful without the scaffolding. Have you any pictures of the Yungang caves? Would like to see what they've done with the place.

Anything hanging from a cliff is really AWESOME whether it's a temple, coffins, effigies, & etc. Truly shows how artistic oriental people are!
