Our Ants?
Thomas, sorry about the ants. We had a similar experience there but they invaded my car. Just for the record, they aren't my Argentina ants and the reason they are a problem is the same reason the raccoons have become a problem. Humans interfering with nature. People throw their candy wrappers, unfinished meals, even emptying a can of soda on the ground keeps these guys going. Ants are a problem in most parts of the world and one needs to take precautions for such possible invasions. So many of us want to be in a natural setting and with that comes the bugs and pesky critters like raccoons.

Fort Desoto Campgrounds Fl....After staying two nights with your Argentina ants I've returned home only to spend extensive time spraying and cleaning my rv. Loved the campsites...Hated the Argentina ants, will NOT return!

Your pictures show a BEUATIFUL camp gorund and private site. As for no see ums....that's FLORIDA for you. And $33 is CHEAP for the view you get. I can't for the life of me see what you have to complain about. Ginny

Pets allowed
Finally Fort Desoto campground allows pets in ARea 2. Also they have a great Pet park and place for dogs to play on the beach.

I grew up camping in Ft. Desoto as a child during the Christmas holidays. I camped once as an adult during the month of July. It's still a beautiful place, but the ants and mosquitoes are formidable during the warmer weather. Don't let this deter your visit - just go during the cooler months! Beautiful and very natural!
