As the name suggests("nam" in the Tibetan language means heavenly), it is considered a holy lake. 1,920 sq.km in size, it's the largest lake in Tibet and the second largest salt water lake in China. At 4,718m above sea level, it is also the highest in altitude of all lates in the world. Reflected in its water is the Nyainqen Tangula Mountains.
