Last Day in Nepal

Every day around Kathmandu is an exciting day, filled with unusual scenes of the Nepalese people and their fantastic temples and other places of worship.

On the final day of our two week visit we bussed a few miles outside of Kathmandu's city center to the rim of the valley. We saw several temples and, of course, many interesting people.

One final note, and a sobering one. The beautiful Kathmandu valley is in deep trouble. Once it was covered with rich topsoil but now that soil is being turned into millions of tons of bricks. ... (more)

I like all of your closeup fotos of people. And I agree that mother(?) and child foto is a gem! Better put a copyright on it and expect National Geographic to come knocking on your door! I feel the same way you do regarding the changes that have come over Nepal within the last decade. For us, it's a tragedy; but for them, it's progress and comfort and an emergence into the 21st Century. Every year when I return to KTM I see farm plots that have been converted into residential apartments. They're even talking about building a road to Lukla.
