The Guards Association in South Australia was formed in November 1954 consequently we have recently celebrated our 50th Anniversary with a Dinner held at the Meridian Lodge in Adelaide and attended by 63 Members including the widow of a Founding Member and former President John Bowen.R.H.G. I have been President since 1991 and our present number of Members stands at 39 Guardsmen and 10 Associate Members. We are at present looking forward to a week's Reunion to be held at Victor Harbor South Australia.This is fully booked for 90 from Australia, New Zealand and U.K. 13th-20th March 2005. Tuesday 15th Reunion March accompanied by High School Band Salute taken by Col.Oliver Lindsay. Wreaths laid by each state Rep. followed by lunch at R.S.L. Dinner followed by Col.Oliver Lindsay's Speech. Then Quiz Night. Wed.16th. Cockle Train trip to Goolwa stopping at Pt.Elliot Museum on the way. Lunch at Goolwa Hotel Dinner followed by "Reunion Idol" night won by Jim Mather. Thurs.17th.St. Patrick's Day Free to take own tours...... Dinner followed by interstate Guests entertainment. Friday.18th. Cruise on the "Spirit of Coorong" A.M.or P.M. Dinner followed by S.A. Guard's Concert "Excellent Reports" coming in......

April 25th 2005 Anzac Day. Excellent turnout 25 Marched some unable to but joined in later...... and including our Ladies 60 enjoyed Lunch at the Hampstead Hotel. Our next big event will be H.M.Queen's Birthday Dinner to be held in the Officer's Mess Keswick Barracks on Saturday June 11th.......Report now on the Queen's Birthday Dinner held on Saturday 11th June to coincide with "The Troop" 59 Members enjoyed and excellent dinner at the Officer's Mess Keswick Barracks Adelaide where we were joined by our Guests Patron. Brig. Lewis & his Wife Dianne.

At our August meeting I had the pleasure of presenting the Major General's award to Ray Booth for his service to this Association in arranging the 2005 Reunion at Victor Harbor. and belatedly the same Commendation to Peter Wade for his work in 1998 for the Murray River Cruise Reunion. Congratulations to Both.... Ray & Marlene Booth, Roy & Hazel Hadley and Myself & June had the pleasure of attending the 6oth Anniversary of V.P. Day held at the Adelaide Town Hall on August 19th. A great night with Glen Miller type music,dancing & singing drinks & food.Held in the magnificent Auditorium. November 2006 60 members enjoyed another great Christmas Dinner at "The Meridian" January 10th 2007 We shall be changing venue for our Meetings to The R.S.L.Walkerville. Several Members are looking forward to the Reunion in Newcastle N.S.W.March 11th-18th... 2007 Reunion is now over.We had a good week in Newcastle with over 100 members & Guests.Including Col.Oliver Lindsay Sun.11th "Get-Together"...Mon.12th free day to explore Tuesday a lovely trip to Port Stephens for a Dolphin-watch cruise. Wed.14th Parade to local War Memorial and wreath- laying ceremony.. Thursday 15th Coach trip around the Hunter Valley district and beautiful gardens. Friday 16th free-day...Saturday "Guard's Conference" A.M. Grand Reunion Dinner {St.Patricks Theme.} Sunday 18th "Good-Bye"......... Anzac Day 2007 Well attended with 20 members marching, this was followed by lunch for 54 at the Hampstead Hotel and some went on to a Concert at the Walkerville R.S.L. Drinks and entertainment Sing-a-long with Wally Carr City of Onkaparinga Pipe-Band and 'Big Pretzel'known to Adelaide people. A good time had by All.

June 16th.07Queen's Annual Birthday dinner was held in the Officer's Mess Keswick Barracks our Guests were Brig.Laurie Lewis & his wife Dianne, also Walkerville R.S.L President Bob Maber and his wife Erica. 46 Members in all attended.
