"It was a foggy day in Kamchatka" became the most memorable slogan of our journey. In fog, our Zodiacs followed each other to shore --- spaced only a few yards apart. I was able to see and photograph the Zodiac just behind us, but the next Zodiac in line is completely obscured by the fog. Skilled Zodiac drivers used compasses to bring us to shore, and also to help us return to the ship. On some days the fog was even heavier, and our landings had to be cancelled or postponed.
