Photography is light, and light is photography. We struggled with the quality of light on this trip. On many days, we had overcast skies or heavy fog. When the sun did show up, we were usually aboard ship, instead of on land, when it was at it's best. But on our last day in Russia, our expedition schedule called for the earliest disembarkation of the entire trip. The Zodiacs brought us into Ittigran Island at 6:30 when the quality of light was perfect.This huge whale bone stands out in bold relief, with the New World Discoverer at anchor in the background.
