It was owned by the the Florentine family bearing the same name as the navigator Giovanni who was born in 1485. Vineyards found in Verrazzano are mentioned as far back as 1170 in a manuscript located in the Abbazia di Passignano library. The modern-day building is the result of a 19th century extension when it was transformed in a masterly villa. A chapel is also part of the complex, where a tabula by Ghirlandaio representing the Eternal Father is conserved.
