This trip to the island was from September 9-13,2002, arriving and departing from Rock Harbor. In May I explored the west side of the island while on this trip I concentrated of the east side. Nights were spent at Moskey Basin (2 nights), McCargoe Cove, and Daisy Farm. This was not my permitted route but due to certain circumstances once on the island this was how the campsites worked out. I traveled solo but with all the great people I met on the island I never once felt alone. Although I saw only three moose this time versus twenty the time previous, probably due to some degree by the amount of people around this trip, it was no less satisfying. With the great sunrises and sunsets, the wonderful views of Lake Superior and a few of the Isle's harbors, and with the wildlife all around, this was a very memorable visit. But what I will fondly remember most about this trip to Isle Royale are the new friends I met on the island. Many a story and a laugh were exchanged during the early evenings while enjoying another beautiful sunset.
