08/16/06 - I experimented with various seating positions and settled on a raised front postion which tilts the seat for better back support and also increases thigh support. The 1/8" aluminum plates are screwed to an oak board and riveted to the floor in the rear. The 3-piece aluminum arrangement provides some additional spring to the seat for a better ride. This mounting setup is plenty strong and tight. The occupants safety and restraint are provided by the racing seat belt restraint system, not the seats. I covered the exposed parts of the wood with the FFR supplied door pocket vinyl since I'm making leather door panels.
