11/20/06 - Started the carpet install by laying out each piece in the car to see how they fit. I picked up a complete new carpet set on the web so I would have extra pieces to work with. Since the top of the tranny tunnel was the most visible piece, I started its fit first. For ease of maintenance, I decided the aluminum panel on top of the tranny tunnel should be removeable. I made a "saddle" carpet to cover it and still allow access to the screws which are on the sides underneath. Note the leather trim around the edges. Rather than having the leather sewed on, I glued it on which worked great. The two small curved holes fit around the dash support tubes; the small hole in the center is the ashtray and larger hole is the gear shift. The oblong hole on the side is for the e-brake lever.
