This photo illustrates how the two layers of leather compress. It also shows the polished stainless washers I modified to make the switch look more period correct. I had to grind out each washer's ID with a dremmel which took about 15 minutes apiece. NOTE: I found a stainless washer that works without modificaton. It's from McMaster-Carr, PN 98089A389, 12mmID, 18mmOD.
