Here's a shot of the rod in action. The top fits over the ball stud that's bolted to the aluminum skin of the trunk door. Gravity holds it in place since I removed the "keeper" from the swivel end to facilitate easy on-off removal of the rod. Also of interest: the polished aluminum filler panel I fabricated to close the hole in the trunk lid and the undercoating on the outer edges of the trunk lid. The weatherstrip is mounted on the trunk lid, which is unusual, since most people place it on the body. Mine's this way because I molded in a drip edge on the body and used that, combined with the FFR supplied weather strip, to set the trunk lid profile exactly the same as the body withought using the rubber buttons.
