On October tenth 1911, a group of Chinese at the Wuchang train station started off an uprising against the Qing Dynasty and the emperor. Although not in the country at the time Dr. Sun Yatsen came back to China from America to organize the country after the fall of the Qing.

Right near the Yellow Crane tower are the buildings that the leaders of the revolt used as their headquarters. The train station is nearby.
