Bruges was a major trading center of Europe over 500 years ago. In the 14th century, the population was equal to London&#39;s. When Bruge&#39;s river to the sea silted up, the city became almost dead. Lack of progress resulted in it keeping it&#39;s original plan. It was rediscovered by tourists during the 20th century, and now it depends heavily on tourism. This city alone would be a good reason visit Belgium. </div></nolayer></noembed>
