Many of the people on the holiday were descendants of people who had taken part in the Charge of the Light Brigade 150 years ago. For me this a part of the holiday I could have lived without - clinmbing a hill in the freezing cold in the middle of nowhere listening to our Russian guide droning on and on and on and on about the Crimean War of 150 years ago and reciting Alfred Lord Tennyson's poem in full. Stuff the noble 600 - I would rather have been in the pub !
