This bridge is the oldest in Australia, spans the Coal River and was built by convict labour in 1823. The bridge is reputed to be haunted by the ghost. Some say the ghost is a male and others say it is female. The history of Tasmania's sometimes brutal convict past guarantees that there will be a ghost or two around to greet the visitor. Richmond is a short drive from Hobart, and is well worth a visit.
