When travelling to Italy, we stopped over in Oberammagau, Bavaria. We were very impressed with the cleanliness of the area. Oberammagau is famous for its Passion Play held every 10 Years with all participants involved living in the village. Well worth a visit. Mittenwald is another village near the border between Bavaria and Austria and is famous for its woodcarvings and the making of violins. when travelling from England to Italy I usually take the route via the Moselle and Rhine Valley then go to the Romantic Strasse to Rottenburg ...
