Type of journey: naturalistic. This trip lasted 19 days in December 2004 and January 2005, and covered the southern part of South America: we started from Santiago, flown to chilean Patagonia, where we visited Torres del Paine national park, sailed up for Balmaceda and Serrano glacier from Puerto Natales, visited Punta Arenas; then crossed the border to Argentina until Ushuaia. There we stayed the last day of the year, sailed the Beagle channel and visited the Lapataia bay; then we went to El Calafate, where we sailed on Argentino lake until the magnifecent Uppsala glacier and the sorrounding area; we visited also the Perito Moreno glacier and had a mini-trekking on it. Next stop Peninsula Valdez and Punta Tombo with their wide colonies of seals, sea elephant, sea lions and penguins. A short stop in Buenos Aires and then we've flown to Iguacu falls, where we found 38 degrees and a wonderful summer nature. At last we returned to Buenos Aires and then come back to Italy. The pictures of this trip are selected from almost 2,500 images I shot on this trip. This was my equipment: Nikon D70 camera; Zoom 24-120 AF VR Nikkor 1:3.5 5.6G; Zoom 80-400 AF VR Nikkor 1:4.5 5.6D; Zoom AF-s Nikkor 12-24 mm 1:4 G. I used only polarizing and UV filters. Photoshop was used to enhance some parameters, like contrast and sharpness and to create some special effects, as you can see in some pictures. I hope you will enjoy looking at them, and I look forward to receiving your comments.
