The Cowra Story The Tidiest Town In NSW 2002 and the Friendliest Town in 2005. Cowra is a small country town situated about four hours by road from Sydney, the Olympic City of 2000. While it is a small town of 9,500 people in the town growing to a shire population of 14,000 it is a town with a wide diversity of features. In 2002 Cowra was judged to be the tidiest town in NSW.
