These are some of my favorite fotos of my favorite country. My dog Sniffy and I came here to live in Feburary 2001. I never regreted the move. We came here from a little town in Pennsylvania, Mars. We now live in the capital city, Santo Domingo. pictures and stories
Jan, I love seeing your pictures and reading your stories. I've been to Hato Mayor with my DR friend and we had a great time staying in the campo at his grandmothers house all the people were so nice. Everything that you said about driving there is sooo true, I get scared of getting on a pasola or motorcycle or even in a car when we are on our way to the river, because of the edges. You should visit Bonao sometime...its Really fun there too. I'm moving down there hopefully in August..can't wait.

compulsive returner to D.R.
D.R. HAS CHANGED MY THINKING IN THE LAST TWENTY YEARS, OF VISITING. NEXT YEAR I JUST MAY STAY THERE, AND VISIT CANADA IN THE WARM MONTHS OF THE SHORT SUMMER. OVERALL,THE PEOPLE IN D.R. ARE STILL TALKING TO EVERYONE ALL OVER THE PLACE NOT LIKE MY AREA, AND I STILL HEAR THE CHILDREN PLAYING HAPPILY, WHICH I MISS IN CANADA. IT IS TOO BAD THAT OUTSIDERS CAN NOT LEAVE THE DOMINICANS TO EVOLVE IN THEIR NATURAL WAYS OF LIFE, WITHOUT US INTRODUCING THE FOREIGN RATRACE OF ALL SORTS, WHICH MAY NOT BE TO THEIR BENEFIT ENTIRELY . YES! I HAVE LEARNED TO ACCEPT THE OVERLY FRIENDLY PEOPLE BUT STILL TRYING TO ACCEPT THE BAD TIGERS.I HAVE A HOME IN LOCASTILLO IN CASE SOMEONE KNOWS SOSUA AREA THEY ALL KNOW SEPPO THE FINN CANADIAN IN FRONT OF JULIOS LITTLE STORE,IN CASE SOMEONE WANTS TO VISIT between DEC and MAY-05.
