Firstly for those who have never heard about Vilnius. Vilnius (a.k.a. Vilna, Wilno) is a capital of Lithuania, a city of distinctive and impressive old European Architecture with variety of styles. That's probably the shortest possible description. Now let's fall a bit into details. Vilnius is a city with population of about 600,000. Officialy founded in 1323 by Lithuanian grand duke Gediminas. There's probably no point of falling into historical detais so let's look at Vilnius what it looks like nowadays. In 1991 Lithuania regained independence from the Soviet Union. by those days the city was quite neglected because of economy problems and terrible economic sitution nationwide. However 12 years later (2003) the city picture is almost unrecognizable. The unique and undamaged old town shines with new colors, lots of small and cosy caffees, bars, clubs inviting you nearly at every corner, cheering people and romantic nightilife. Vilnius is a live city thanks to it's cosmopolitan atmosphere. Of course, Vilnius is not only the old-town. Nowadays the city starts shining with new colors of modernity and innovation. New skyscrapers, huge shopping centers and hotels rise everywhere. It's a booming city of business and enterntainment. City is now changing very fast and even local people sometimes are amazed by it's rate. What few years ago looked imposible and unthinkable now becomes reality. Vilnius just keeps living.
