The Nebraska State Capitol is recognized as one of the world's architectural masterpieces. The large square base represents the flat plains of Nebraska, with the tower symbolizing the dream and aspirations of the pioneers. The building was constructed over a ten-year period in four building phases. Construction began in 1922 and was completed in 1932. Total cost of the building was just under $10 million dollars. Nebraskans are proud of the fact that the building was paid for on completion.
