Like a pair of giant book ends, Sugar Loaf and Corcovado dominate the Rio scene. At Corcovado's base rest some of Rio's most expensive neighborhoods. Yet sprawling down the hill at right is a huge shantytown, the threat of mudslides always present on its flanks.
