This photo was taken in December 1976. Up in the mountain, the ruins of the once important castle can be seen. Hita was the birthplace of a famous medieval writer, the Arcipreste de Hita. In the 13th C. another writer, Gonzalo de Berceo, mentioned Hita saying "Fita est un castiello fuer et apoderado in fito agudo en fondon bien poblado, el bon rei Alfons lo tiene ha mandado el que de Toledo, sinon son trascordado"
