In order to hit my goal of visiting Canada's Northwest Territories, I took a long drive from Edmonton to High Level, the widest spot along the highway in northern Alberta. North of Edmonton, I followed Highway 44 to the Lesser Slave Lake. From there I took Highway 2 to Peace River. West of there I got onto Highway 35, the Mackenzie Highway, for the drive north.

Although not all that scenic a drive overall, there were several pretty views along the way, some of which I've included here.
