I put down the title as 'Surprising Buenos Aires' because, coming from Singapore all way around the other side of the globe, Argentina really surprises me. In absolute honesty, I had expected a bit of a third world country but, boy, was I wrong! It is an extremely interesting place, full of vitality and it is as European as any European city I have seen! Steep in Spanish and their own Argentinian culture, it is very well developed and you can tell by the many bookstores and Internet cafes around Buenos Aires. Plenty of eateries, coffee shops and shopping too. Really quite different from Rio de Janeiro where I flew in from. The district of La Boca ( remember Boca Juniors, where Diego Maradona came from?) is a revelation. Formerly it was a rundown dock area and it was the artistic community that re-developed it to what it is now - full of life! I hope you enjoy this small assortmant of photos just as much as I enjoyed putting them up. Cheers!
