It also contains some frescoes painted by the Russian master Andrei Rublev. The interior walls depict the struggles at the hands of the Tatars, as well as the eventual triumph. Damaged by fire in the 13th and 16th centuries, the cathedral was restored to its present appearance only in the 19th century. </div></nolayer></noembed>
