In Olinda there are lots of hills with wonderful views of the many colourful old homes and churches.
Sixty kilometers south is Porto de Galinhas, which means Port of the chickens. After they abolished slavery a few hundred years ago a number of rich sugar cane barons kept importing slaves from Angola. When they were given the password that the chickens from Angola have arrived they knew a new shipment of slaves were in the harbour.
On the beach there are lots of little sailing boats called Jangadas, many people hire them to go out abot 100 meters to feed the fish.
It is a delightful little village with a very good beach; all over the town there are photos and statues of. You guessed it, chickens.
