Stop and Visit the Beautiful Historic town of Indian Head Saskatchewan, Est. in 1882. - The First Rectangular Wooden Elevator in Saskatchewan was built in Indian Head in 1883. The Experimental Farm began in 1886. The P.F.R.A. Nursery began operation in 1901. Indian Head had it's own Steam Power Plant built in 1906 that supplied the town with Electricity. A beautiful and historic town.
I came to visit my brother, and the following year, 2005, I worked harvest on a local farm. I was born and raised in Saskatchewan and Manitoba, and Indian Head is one of the nicest and freshest appearing towns in Saskatchewan.

I love the multitude of turn-of-the-century homes, and hope many will be restored or retained in their original glory. Construction material is real stone, real wood and other natural products. Maybe they are not the most energy-efficient buildings, but to me, they are healthier.

I am a home renovator, I love and understand old buildings.

Wasyl Dasko and his wife, Barbara, arrived in Indian Head from Krakow Poland in 1902. My grandfather first worked on the section gang of the C.P.R. About 1903 he began to work for the town in the parks and cemetery.

In reference to his work the Indian Head News carried a tribute to his efforts in the cemetery. Part of it follows. "Years of diligent and painstaking care has gradually transformed what was once bald headed prairie into a paradise for those loved ones who have passed on to their eternal rest.

Mr. Dasko is to be congraatulated for the care he has taken to make this spot a veritable " Garden of Eden". I.H.News-1936

My grandparents,Garfield Webster and Olive Fuller, came from Indian Head but there are no pictures of the area from when they were small as they were distroyed in a fire. It has been enjoyable to see them here on your site and remembering how life must have been for them growing up. Thank you!

I was born in the two-story house on the north-east corner of Grand and Eden. (It has stained glass windows.) We left when I was two months old to move to Aneroid, Sk. Dr. Hart was the doctor who delivered me. I was looking to see if there was a picture of my birth home included in your photos. Stained glass windows are rare these days. Best Regards, EIStillwell
