I went to Butlins Ayr in the summer of 1978 and it was one of the happiest times I ever had. We used to wake up every morning to Cavatina (theme from the Deerhunter) I was with a fantastic crowd who I will never forget. I'd give anything to turn the clock back to that magical time.

That photo inside the Pig and Whistle, I have an almost replica photo of me at about the same age as that kid, taken in 1976 ( I know cos the lake was completely dried out and the outdoor pool was covered in millions of ladybirds lol, with my mam and dad and my aunty and uncle at the same type of table with the beer and tabs on top. lol quite bizarre.

i worked i butlins ayr 1977 in the stuart ballroom serving tea and cakes ect,i had a great time,i lost contact with everybody i new, wich is sad coz we could swap a few storys,i never went back to work there coz i got married, but i took my daughter there and it was still the same,i would point out all the places i had being to and my wee cafe where i worked. and she loved it, when it changed to haven it was never the same, we never went back, but i still have those memorys my superviser mrs redgrave u dont want to argue with her, those r great pics, i lost all mine so it was good to look back , thanx .

hi what a smile u put on my face, my lovely parents took me to butlins and i married a red coat and have 6 kids to jim symore and we go to butlins every year.but nothing can beat ayr.

When I was a child in the 1960's my parents took me to Butlins in Ayr for our annual summer holiday. We have lots of photos of those happy times which are precious to us. I will never forget those days and can still recollect the special smells which remind me of Butlins, the great tunes which were so popular and the redcoats. I wish I could turn the clock back.

Been to butlins Ayr five times between ages of six [1971] to fifteen [1980].Fantastic place to be when your young. Been tempted to go back but with so many changes it's best to leave the memories and images of old Butlins intact. I prefer to remember the stuart ballroom and the beachcomber bar [got really pissed first night when only fifteen, thought I was big guy 'cos I got served drink ] ,the roller skating rink , snooker hall, chair lift, even the lowly table tennis room and the TV room all add to the memories of the great time that was had when I was there. Got lost one year when I was seven one year. Seperated from my mum and dad. lasting memory was of a redcoat leading me by the hand and finding my chalet with my 'greetin' mum outside it. God bless her
