On a 2005 Antarctica trip, I also spent some time in Buenos Aires, Argentina. There's a lot more to a city than its buildings, fountains and sightseeing stops, but it is a lot harder to capture the sense of a city with pictures.

As I explore a city, I get pictures of ads and graffiti, busy streets and empty alleys, street art and store windows, the everyday culture of the place. Those that remind me of home, and those that seem to contrast the attitudes of the place I am visiting with those where I live.

In Argentina, the street art was more abundant, the graffiti was more political, the ads more sexual and flesh-baring than what I typically see in the U.S., although much of what I saw would be just as at home were you to come across it here (well, maybe if you translated it to English). Examples here emphasize the differences and the whimsical.

BTW, these are just cultural observations from my trip to Argentina, not necessarily opinions or values I agree with. Please don't use Worldisround to debate the politics of this - thanks.
