When we arrived we had lunch at an outside café, where we tried our first local beer, later checking into our four-star hotel.
We then walked around the town and came across some festival dancing, which we stood and watched for a while, then had fun trying to find an ATM as there are only about three in the whole place!
That night, we had dinner at a nice little restaurant on the main square.
The next day we climbed the Belfry of the main church. Its quite a climb but the view of the city is worth it.
Then we took a boat ride along the canals, and the Belgian guy who took the tour was quite funny he loved Australians and kept telling jokes just for us, or aimed at us, which we laughed along with.
A visit to Belgium wouldnt be complete without a brewery tour, so we visited Staffe Hendrik breweries. The beer was six per cent and we had two with lunch, then we had to walk up lots of ladders. Sara was a bit drunk and I was laughing at her.
Afterwards we visited a tearoom where we had traditional Belgian waffles and a hot chocolate.
The final day we had planned to spend in Brussels, but it was so relaxing in Bruges that we didnt want to leave and rush around. So we wandered back to the main square and had a look in a Basilica just near it, then browsed the numerous chocolate shops and took our time getting back to Brussels, in plenty of time to catch the Eurostar back to London.
