The drive from Phoenix to Roosevelt on Hwy 88 also known as Apache Trail is Arizona's famous two-lane road. It was built by Apache Native Americans to haul supplies from Phoenix to the construction site of the Roosevelt Dam. 44 miles long... I got through half of it in 4 hours of driving and hiking a bit before I had to return to Phoenix. Hwy 87 runs through some of the same country but turns further noth on to Payson and eventually the Mogollon Rim and central points. I took that the next day on my way to Sedona. These are some
