Tha Wat Traimit, at the edge of Chinatown, is known mainly for the huge gold Buddha (5.5 tons of pure gold) which has been "discovered" about 40 years ago, when accidentally the plaster with which was covered - probably to hide its gold from the invading Burmese - broke revealing the interior
